three more virtues
toad, worm, eye
Sorry the post is late, got a late start yesterday. Here's the next three virtues from that set of nine I mentioned. Lots of new vocab.
POMEG “simplicity, simpleness” from P-M “to be simple” & -G suffix to make it a noun
OĠEÐE “[it is] stalwart” Ġ-Ð “to be stalwart, enduring”
ULENEG “without question, questionless” from L-N “to query, to question”, -G to make a noun, U- negative prefix
VOÐEL-PEHEG “[act of] leaping-to-there” from VEÐEL “there” in the locative, P-H “to jump, to leap”
FETHEL-SHIÐEG “[act of] remaining here” from FETHEL “here”… should be in the locative. Should be FOTHEG. Whoops. and SH-Ð “to linger, hesitate, doubt”
OKENE “[it is] good”, transitively “is better [than]” K-N “to be good”
G-SH-SH “worm”
ÐOZESH “rot, decomposition, mulch, compost” in locative
P-TH “to be humble”
S-P “to die”, might have come up before i forget
Ð-V “to live”
K-M “to strive, to toil”
V-ZH “to change, to transform
not sure I like how I constructed “turn X into Y” where both are accusative and order determines which is which… I considered putting the thing being transformed in instrumental, but then it's indistinguishable from “transforming by application of X”.
N-F “to pretend, to be false”
N-X-S “foe”, an a-a noun
S-ZH-K “eye”
CH-TH “to cut” is also “to discern, distinguish”
V-CH “to be sharp”
CH-S-M “dross, chaff, dust”
Ġ-NG “to be dull, plain”
ZH-B-SH “grain, seeds”
V-M “to shine, the gleam”
L-CH “to winnow, to sift”
X-M-TH “[geometric] face, facet, surface”
L-F-TH “that which is beautiful”
So, altogether, something like:
The toad's virtue is in stalwart simplicity: it consumes, questionless, thither-leaping is better than here-lingering. The worm's virtue is in humble rot: it toils to transform death into life, foeless and without pretense. The eye's virtue is in sharp discernment: it winnows the dull chaff from the bright grain, and cuts facets into that which is beautiful.
Catch me next week with the final three virtues, and then maybe after that a nice written version of the whole thing.
